Susie's Diary Entry
Part 2

Diary Entry September 26, 1997 7 months

I look like I swallowed Bolivia. I do, I am now officially vast and huge. People I meet keep being shocked by the fact that I have two more months to go. The ultrasound proved that there is definitely only one baby so I can only assume he's going to be large. Maybe full grown. His feet are certainly full grown.

I've decided that 9 months is simply too long a gestation period and that six would be better. When I'm done with this current project and have some time and energy (all you mothers of toddlers may now laugh at my naive belief that I will ever again have such), I think I shall see about getting a bill introduced to congress. Probably won't pass. Bunch of men running congress, you know.

Ultrasounds are absolutely amazing. I have baby pictures. He's adorable. I also got to watch him on the video monitor which was even clearer and I now atually know what my son looks like. Well, I assume he'll be a little more "baked" when he's born but I could see his face and could pick him out of a lineup. But let's hope he's old enough to walk before that becomes necessary. Geez, what a thought. Newborn Gangsters and The Mommies Who Love Them. Is it a Sally Jessy Raphael topic or a grunge band?

I know this sounds silly, but I'm hoping to get more sleep *after* the baby is born. I've reached that bulky awkward stage where I wake up every few hours to try to find a comfortable position. Mom says I slept through the night from the start. (The night I was born the nurses woke me up because I showed every sign of sleeping all night and they thought something was wrong with me.) Maybe that'll be a genetic thing. Cross fingers. She also says that once she put me down for the night I was quite content to stay down. I might not fall asleep for two hours, but I'd entertain myself quietly in my crib, a refreshing change from my elder brother who screamed until the neighbors thought someone was being murdered. Mom says it would serve me right to get one who's loud and argumentative to punish me for my teenage years.

Looking back at my last entry I feel I should update a few things. The molasses was a flop. Came right back up, barely got down my throat. Noxious stuff. I have escaped Utah! I am sitting in beautiful, diverse, coastal California right now on a visit to my parents and am Flying out to my new home in New York City on Monday. And then I'm never moving again. Ever try to organize movers and pack all your stuff while six months pregnant? Bad idea. Can't wait to see new york though. Never been there and it will be quite an adventure for the family... all three of us.
