Tiny Pearlized Buttons
Someone will be watching on that day.
I can feel it.
As much as I feel the sun
leading the tender pink roses, slowly into bloom.
We call them Innocence.
And droplet's of saltless tears will fall
dancing from the sky
to soothe my thirsty garden
and stir my growing soul.
I'll raise my dirt caked hands to heaven,
stretching fingers wide and tall
if only to offer a touch and praise.
A welcoming gesture, my thanks for the rain.
Someone will be first to meet my rose
loving even the snarls within her hair,
and tapping lightly
the tiny pearlized button of her nose.
I don't mind being second.
