Dear Lord
Dear Lord, they've had many a hectic day,
With little time to stop and pray.
Life's been turned inside out,
Since the day that Ben popped out!
Big blue eyes, clear and bright,
Little hands holding tight.
"So much skin, for such a little boy!"
One wrinkly, lovely, bundle of joy"
Flowing hair all wavy and groovy!
Nothing like his father's all shiny and smoothy!
His winning smile brings so much joy,
How did he end up being such a good-looking boy?
When playing with daddy, he gets so excited,
One day he'll play football for United!
Like father like son, oh my word!
I'm sure on the pitch they'll really be heard.
From kicking and wiggling and moving around,
To sleeping peacefully without making a sound.
Dreamily resting in his mothers embrace,
We clearly see the happiness on her face.
Parenting requires management skills,
Simple tasks are a battle of wills!
Many things will take much longer now,
But that doesn't matter, they'll get there some how.
Born out of love, a gift from above, Entrusted to their care an answer to their prayer.
When Ben's fully grown, seeds scattered and sown,
Let him know You, as Lord and Saviour too.
We pray for their future and whatever it may hold,
That their faith will guard, guide and mould.
Be with them all, oh Lord we pray,
And be with them along life's way.
A family so special, united in You,
Nurtured and protected by all that You do.
Family and friends be with them to guide,
Available always to be by their side.
We thank you Lord,
For Andrew, Anne and Ben!
Grant them all Your Blessings Lord,
And so we say, Amen
