Ending the Best Year
When she told us she had to leave
My heart stopped and I couldn't breath
I felt like a child, ready to cry
Because of a bee sting or soap in the eye
It isn't fair, I said to myself
If only I could rewrite the book on the shelf
The year is over as any can see
The door is locked
There is no key
I wish that I could start new
Like a piece of gum, ready to chew
I guess this is it, time has gone by
All thats left is a long, heavy sigh
To say the least, I learned a lot
ANd its because of all you taught
